Overview

Several aspects of Operating Systems and applications software on commercial computer systems require modification to avoid major operational problems involving dates near or beyond the year 2000. The methods of encoding, storing, comparing and displaying dates must all be made compliant with the requirement to operate properly with a mix of dates around the turn of the century. Older revisions of Concurrent’s OS/32 operating system, as well as many systems and applications programs, require such attention.

PRSM Systems’ extensive experience and expertise in these systems allows us to offer our clients an integrated and practical package of services in support of the ‘Y2K’ problem for the Series 3200. With the service and tools provided, our clients may make more dependable and accurate business decisions regarding the conversion of key applications.

Y2KTP/32™

The base Y2KTP/32 ™ offering is a comprehensive test program suite designed to allow thorough Y2K compliance testing of most revisions of OS/32. Highly user-configurable, it typically performs dozens to hundreds of checks on specific, OS-internal date and time issues. The Y2KTP/32™ program suite is available as a standalone software offering, or at no charge as part of more comprehensive Y2K-related services from PRSM Systems, LLC. In either offering, it is suitable for self-certification of Y2K compliance of the operating system.

PRSM Systems is also prepared to offer highly expert assistance with a broader line of Y2K services. We can assist you in determining OS upgrade requirements and costs and ease your burden of ordering, configuring and installing OS/32 upgrades. Any of your custom-built components or drivers may be expertly converted in the process. Secondly, PRSM Systems proprietary software and techniques may be used to examine your key applications and provide guidance as to appropriate measures. Either source code or, if necessary, task images can be examined and a level of effort for source and / or patch level remediation established. In many cases, relatively straightforward efforts are all that are needed to make key applications ‘Y2K compliant’, even if all sources are not available.
