Overview
Several aspects of Operating Systems and applications
software on commercial computer systems require modification to avoid major operational
problems involving dates near or beyond the year 2000. The methods of encoding, storing,
comparing and displaying dates must all be made compliant with the requirement to operate
properly with a mix of dates around the turn of the century. Older revisions of
Concurrent’s OS/32 operating system, as well as many systems and applications
programs, require such modification.

The Y2K/32™ offering is a mix of products and
services specially designed to get the owners of Series 3200 OS/32 systems on the road to
successful management of the ‘Millennium Problem’.
PRSM Systems proprietary software and techniques are used to examine the client’s key
applications and provide guidance as to appropriate measures. Either source code or, if
necessary, task image examination is utilized and a level of effort for source and / or
patch level remediation are established. In many cases, relatively straightforward efforts
are all that are needed to make key applications ‘Y2K compliant’, even if all
sources are not available. In any case, a realistic knowledge of what effort is required
is necessary to support the business decisions on the system’s future.
